Week of April 29, 2019

Parents of 9th Graders

On May 1, all 9th graders will take the End of Grade Testing known as the Iowa Assessment test. Testing will begin promptly at 7:45 am.  Please make sure your child is on time that day.  Testing will end at 12:00 pm.  The students will eat lunch from 12:00-1:05 pm and then attend their 4th block class.


Senior Recognition Chapel

Please join us on Friday, May 3 as we celebrate the Class of 2019 at 9:30 AM.  This will be the only Chapel for May.  On the school calendar, May 2 is shown as a Chapel day, however, high school will have Chapel on May 3.

May 22             High School Exams  3rd and 4th block (12:00 PM dismissal)
May 23             Make-Up Exam Day / Last Day of School /  1/2 day dismissal
May 24             Graduation Table Display Set Up in Gym  starting at 7:00 AM
May 24             Class of 2019 Graduation 6:00 PM in the Worship Center

Spring Guidance Parent Night

On Tuesday, April 9th at 6:00pm we are holding our Spring Guidance Night!
We will have several informational sessions for you to learn about various details that will help with the college and career planning process for your student.  This event was created to benefit all high school grade levels.  We will host our first College Fair during the day for students and in the evening as well.  Also, there will be sessions for learning about such topics as the financial aid process, athletic recruiting, and dual enrollment in CPCC's tech/vocational programs & college credit programs while in high school (tuition-free!). 
JROTC @ HG: If you think your student would be interested in learning about the possibility of JROTC, please join us for an information session on this program.  We are exploring bringing the JROTC for Christian Schools Program to our high school for grades 9 - 12.  JROTC for Christian Schools is a great program.  It uses the curriculum recommended by the Dept. of Defense but is taught from a biblical perspective and is not government-funded.  The program promotes self-motivation, responsibility, courage, wellness, leadership, integrity, loyalty, goal-setting and much more.  Depending on having enough interest and securing the right teacher, this program could be a reality for our students as early as 2019-2020!

Summer Camp registration is now open. Click here to register. Camps are open to all HGCS students and HGBC members.
Spring Pictures are Coming!
Lifetouch will visit HG this week to take Spring pictures.  If you would like to order any pictures, please send in your completed order form with payment to school with your child on their designated picture day.

Course Registration Due Today
All students, in the 9th-11th grade, should have their course selection completed today for next year.

 Report Cards

Report Cards are now available to view.  The last day to view and print will be April 5.

 ACT Test
All Juniors will take the ACT test on April 2. Juniors only will be dismissed at 12:00.
