April 24, 2017 Announcements

Parents of Athletes

Save the date for this year's Heart of a Champion event with Carolinas Healthcare System! HGCS will participate in the event on June 3rd. This event serves as a FREE sports physical and heart screening, and it is available for student-athletes in grades 9-12. Participants must register online at CarolinasHealthCare.org/Heart-of-a-Champion between May 1st and May 28th. ALL participants must ride the bus from HGCS to the event site--parents may NOT drop off students at the event site. CHS will be releasing our school's arrival and screening time soon.


Terra Nova Testing: (9th-11th graders only)

Terra Nova tests will be administered April 26-28. Here are helpful tips for testing:

  • make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before testing
  • eat a healthy breakfast
  • have your child to school on time. If they are late and testing has started, they will not be allowed to enter the classroom.
  •  Any student absent will not be able to make up the test.

 Box Top Collection
It’s time to turn in those Box Tops that you’ve been saving.  Our next collection date will be Friday, May 5th. If possible, please place Box Tops in bags of 50.  Label bags with your student’s name, grade and homeroom teacher. Please do not include any expired Box Tops.  Thank you for helping out your school!!

Parents of Seniors

Please join us on April 21, 2017 at 8:00 am in the Worship Center for "Senior Recognition Chapel". If you are interested in purchasing a yard sign for your senior click here for details.

Parents of Rising Seniors

Please plan to join us, April 18th at 7:00 am in rooms 3308/3310 (the 3rd floor of the Educational building).  Mrs. Royal will be presenting important information to help you and your student  begin  planning for this life changing Mission trip.

Early Dismissal

On April 28, 2017, High School students only will be dismissed at 11:30.


Athletic Garage Sale

The HGCS Athletic Department is having a Garage Sale on Friday, April 21st from 3:00 to 5:30pm at the Field House! We are selling old uniforms and gear for football, soccer, baseball, cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, and golf. 

Spring Pictures

Proofs are ready. Your child will be receiving information by Tuesday to bring home for you to view the Spring pictures.

Parents of Lifers

Has your Class of 2017 Senior been at Hickory Grove since TK or Kindergarten? Don't forget about the Lifer Breakfast this Friday.

Dinner will be served. Free dinner included for seniors.Additional tickets can be purchased at $10 per person (7 maximum tickets per family). Graduates will need to arrive by 4:15 PM with cap and gown. Dress is semi-formal.

Spring Pictures
St. John will be here on the following dates to take Spring pictures: Students will be required to be in regular school dress code for pictures.(Collared shirts required)
