Silent Auction

Hickory Grove Christian School has attempted to make it a practice to limit the number of fundraisers that we attempt each year. There are typically two major events each year and one of those coming up next month. The HGCS Dinner and Auction will be held on Saturday, November 5 in the Family Life Center. The auction Preview begins at 5 pm and Dinner/Program at 6 pm. Our speaker is fellow believer and Major League Baseball player, James McCann, catcher for the Detroit Tigers. James has generously waived his speaker’s fee for the evening. He was a standout both academically and athletically at the University of Arkansas and even though he is in his early twenties, he has an amazing life story that I feel certain that you will enjoy hearing.




Would you consider joining us Saturday, November 5? You can help in three ways:

  1. Purchasing individual tickets or a table of eight. Then, invite your friends and family to a wonderful evening while supporting Hickory Grove Christian School (for those purchasing a table of eight, you will be listed as aTable Sponsor on the program)
  1. Helping promote the event on your Facebook page or in conversation with your friends and family
  1. Donating to the class gift baskets (click here to view your child’s grade basket theme http://hgcsannouncement.blogspot.com/2016/10/announcements-for-week-of-october-3-2016.html 


Tickets are available at https://hgchristian.brushfireapp.com/events Click on event 434202 .There are a total of 300 tickets available so let’s fill the gym for James and for HGCS. Tickets go fast for this event so you will want to get your tickets early!

  • Autographed James McCann jersey

Performing Arts;
Our Performing arts department will be putting on "A night of One Acts"  this Friday and Saturday (October 28 and 29th) beginning at 7:00 pm.  Come enjoy some fun and  laughter in the Event Center as you enjoy watching the hard work of our Hickory Grove Christian School Performing Arts students/department.  Tickets are $7.00.

Visiting the school

Parents,
In order to make sure consistency is maintained with every person entering the school, the only entrance you may use to enter the school is the main entrance in Education Building 1.  You must check in with Felicia before going to your destination.  Your child's safety and the security of our buildings are top priorities.   If you enter through the Family Life Center, you will be instructed  to go to the main entrance.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Selecting Yearbook Photos - A flier from St. John’s Photography was sent home last week about picture orders. It included instructions about how to select your yearbook photo. Even if you do not order pictures, please make sure to do this or a random photo will be selected.

Senior Ad and Business Ad Orders are due October 31st.  In addition to forms that were given out, you have the option of ordering online at yearbookforever.com.  

Share your photos!  If you have pictures from events, special school days, field trips, etc. that you would like to be considered for use in the yearbook, please download and use the free Snap App on your phone or Community Upload site on the computer and connect it to our school using the access code, hglions.

Winter Sports Informational Meeting

An informational meeting for all students and parents interested in winter sports (basketball, cheerleading, swimming) at Hickory Grove Christian School will be held on Monday, October 17 in Room 3012 at 6:30 (Education Center Basement). The meeting will cover tryouts, required paperwork, policies, expectations, and specific team information.

 REMINDER:
All HS students must be off campus by 12:15 Wednesday after the PSAT.  The only exception is if they have sports practice immediately after school is dismissed.

Senior Announcement Reminders

Senior Announcements Reminder

Good morning Seniors.  Here are a few reminders for you:


  • No school tomorrow or Monday
  • Tuesday, Oct 18 and Thursday, Oct 20, Herff Jones will be back during lunch to take any orders you may have for graduation.  The representative will be in the main lobby near Guest Services. 
  • If you have not turned in your SCORE paperwork for the Dominican trip or given a copy of your passport, Mrs. Wilson needs it ASAP.
  • October 19th is PSAT day.  You do not need to come to school that day.

Make Up Fall Pictures

Due to Spirit week, the make up picture day has been rescheduled for October 6.

Pittsburgh Mission Trip (November 7-11, 2016)

Advance the Gospel by serving the people of Pittsburgh with Ken & Paula Cordray through Living Faith Community Church. 17 slots open. Cost is $390. Students will be involved in servant-driven evangelism through various mission projects in key neighborhoods and communities throughout Pittsburgh. Trip leaders are Mr. Hamilton and Pastor Aaron Peters. Trip application is due to the main school office on Thursday, Sept 22nd.

Seniors Dominican Trip (January 9-13, 2017)

Here are a few reminders about the Dominican trip:

 The following forms are due to the HS office by Oct 3:
  • Copy of student passport
  • Completed SCORE application/medical release form
  • If under 18, completed/notarized SCORE parental consent form
If your child is not going, please email Michele Wilson at michelewilson@hgchristian.org ASAP so I can give the travel agency an accurate seat count. The remaining balance must be paid November 7.
